Irwindale, California, October 15, 2008 – Youhomework LLC has partnered with Trend Micro Inc., a global leader in Internet content security, to launch an Internet safety campaign on yourhomework.com. The program, which begins October 15, will be provided free to yourhomework.com teachers and families and includes information on potential Internet risks, as well as safe-practices on how to minimize young people’s exposure to inappropriate Web site content.
“Using the Internet is an important life skill for today’s youth. It opens many windows to the world for young people, but it does have its risks,” said Lynette Owens, director of community outreach for Trend Micro. “Parents and teachers just need to know what these are and how they can teach kids to be safe and secure online.”
Program topics are designed to increase security awareness across all areas of the Internet including social networking, cyber bullying, and file-sharing.
“We are excited to bring this program to yourhomework.com. We recently updated our Web site with new security precautions and believe it is a great time to introduce the broader topic to our teachers and families,” said Soorena Salari, CEO of Yourhomework LLC.
Trend Micro will also sponsor teacher contests each month to award the top teachers for their online activity and other practices. This sponsorship furthers the aim of Trend Micro Internet Safety for Kids & Families – to raise awareness and provide education to parents, teachers, and youth so that young people can use the Internet safely and to its fullest potential.
